Sunnyside Lock Experts
Safes ask for patience, and patience is something we have made part of the company's character. Opening a safe whose combination has been lost is careful, methodical work, done in a way that leaves the safe usable afterwards. Installing one means thinking about the floor, the wall, the humidity and how you will actually use it day to day. We bring that same steadiness to every other job, whether it is a stubborn mortise lock in an old house or a car door with a snapped key inside. Rushing is how hardware gets damaged. Working steadily, explaining as we go, is how it gets sorted properly.

How a visit goes
Replacing an existing deadbolt is usually a matter of matching rather than cutting. The locksmith measures the cross bore, the edge bore and the backset, checks the door thickness, and picks a bolt that drops into the holes you already have.

Identifying the small lock
Mailbox, cabinet and desk locks are small but varied. We identify the type and whether a key can be made, a cylinder replaced or the whole unit swapped.
2 of 3
Replacing or rekeying it
Most small locks are replaced rather than repaired because new parts are simpler than rebuilding tiny mechanisms. We fit the new cylinder and check the cam lines up with the catch.

A tested key and a spare
You get a tested key plus a spare, and a tip about where to keep it, because a mailbox key is the one people lose most.

2021 census · what it means at the door
58%Older homes
About 58% of homes in Toronto were built in 1980 or earlier, according to the 2021 Census.
Period hardware on older homes deserves matching parts, not a mismatched modern set. A locksmith who works among such houses keeps finishes and styles that suit them, so a repaired or replaced lock still looks like it belongs to the door.
23%
Single-detached houses make up about 23% of homes in Toronto (2021 Census).
Townhouses share walls but usually have their own front door and often a back door or garage. Keying both alike, and checking the strike on the less-used door, is the everyday work in a neighbourhood of attached homes.
